DNR=Department of Natural Resources has public shooting ranges throughout the province:
www.gov.ns.ca/natr/hunt/Range_Locns.htm
www.atlantichuntered.ca/ns/ranges.htm
which are obviously provided by us tax payers & voters, they are open throughout the year with the busiest times being Sept, Oct & Nov as most hunters book an appointment over the phone to sight in their rifles "but" anyone can go with someone who has a valid driver's licence and shoot any firearm except the Magnum rifles and .50 cal BMG. They are open 7 days a week with the exception of Sunday.
The closest one to Dartmouth/Halifax is the one in West Jeddore Rd in West Jeddore about 30 minute drive or 50 KM, you can take your restricted (handguns & rifles) if you of course have an ATT permit to transport it.
You must bring your own targets (paper, cans, etc) & clean up after you, book over the phone in advance and follow the regulations posted there like raising a red flag before firing and such, also must have someone with you that person only needs a valid driver's license.
You can also talk to farmers in Musquodoboit Harbour,Brooklyn,Windsor,Truro, etc and ask them if they want their coyote population controlled. You would be doing many farmers huge favours.
So start telling all of your friends about this so they can enjoy the outdoors again instead of resorting to drinking and maybe doing drugs. Also stay tuned to Tuesday, May 16, 2006 for the Auditor General's Report on the final outcome of the cost of the Firearms Registry Program which the Liberals stated would cost only $1 million back in 1995 by Justice Minister Allan Rock.
I believe the final cost will be $5 billion, this is worse than the Sponsorship scandal.
